Public Ownership Pledge


This is a pledge which Christchurch City Council and Community Board candidates in the 2007 elections were asked to sign. It can be downloaded from here as a PDF file (469KB).

The Pledge states:

We hereby pledge our support for keeping all significant public assets and services of the citizens of Christchurch in public ownership and control, accessible to public scrutiny, and having a primary purpose of serving the needs of our community and our economic, social and natural environment.

Health Cuts Hurt's successful candidate for the Canterbury District Health Board, Eleanor Carter, also signed. In her case, she pledged to retain public ownership of central Government health assets in Christchurch, as no City Council assets are involved there.
